I Have Succummed...

...to socks, that is. Yes, socks. I've had a hard time adjusting to this new cold weather, but as it was a mere 40 degrees today I decided it was best to put away the Sketchers 'Bikers' and pull out a pair of oxfords and some socks.

*sigh* Winter is here.

I'm not sure what it is about having my feet covered that I dislike so much. I appreciate the warmth of socks when, like tonight, it's well below freezing. And I like how shoes keep my feet from getting cut up from all the shards of glass in the streets. And yet I am always slipping off my shoes, which I usually wear sockless, under the desk at work or going out to my car for lunch so I can spend 30 uninterrupted minutes with my naked feet and a chicken sandwich.

Still...winter is here and it is far too cold for me to be annoyed by socks. So after work I popped over to the ladies department, hoping to find some practical and yet comfortable socks. And I did. And I also made a purchase of something I never thought I'd ever wear again.

Leg Warmers.

They're back, people! Returned from the 80's to haunt us all, and also keep our legs fashionably warm. Did I say fashionably? I meant hideously. Hideously warm.

Now I didn't purchase these to wear out in public over my leggings and with my high heels. Because I don't own leggings and I only wear high heels to special occasions and job interviews. I bought them simply to keep my lower extremities warm while futzing about the house. They work, too. And they don't annoy my feet in the slightest.

I have to say, though, that despite my intentions....they are growing on me a little bit. They are almost kinda sorta cute. For lounging in, anyway. And they have come a long way.....
